The Story Of the Walking Dead
The story’s main character is a small town police officer from Kentucky, Rick Grimes. Grimes, although a cop, has never fired his weapon and has only seen one dead body his entire life—before the zombie apocalypse that is. Upon waking up in a hospital, he learns that the world is being overrun by the undead and finds his self as one of the few survivors left in a terrifying world swept by an epidemic. Together with his family and a group of other survivors, they journey together for survival against the zombie apocalypse.
It is set to run perpetuity, depicting how different groups of people would struggle and fight to survive in the complicated hell brought about by the zombie apocalypse. Although the walking dead comic revolves around the catastrophe brought about by zombies, it mainly focuses on character interaction and development as well as human survival.
The walking dead comic emotionally involves readers in a story full of horrific events that could occur when people are left on their own in a terrifying world. No matter what situation and location, on an enclosed town, in the middle of the forest woods, or even behind the prison walls, one question keeps popping up: who can you trust in this world, when everything else seems to break down? No place is safe, and no one is safe from everyone else. Even the main characters aren’t safe from death and mutilation. It leaves behind an impression that each person has no one else to trust but themselves. The walking dead comic is about a world ruled by the dead, forcing people to finally begin living.
